American and European Roulette: Which Should You Play?

At first glance, you will not notice the difference between a European Roulette table and an American Roulette table. However, upon close inspection the first thing you will notice is the absence of the double zero, or 00 on the European table.

Off the bat, this gives you better leverage against the house because they only have half of the advantage the American Roulette has. Simply put, the home court advantage of the European Roulette is only approximately a little below 3% while the American Roulette has a house advantage of almost 5 and a percent.

Now, if you're playing the European Roulette, you have to have a sharp memory because all of your chips, including those of other players are of the same color. This means you have to remember which numbers you put your chips on so you'll know if you've already won or not.

In American Roulette, players are given different-colored chips to distinguish their bets from that of the other players. This way, it will be easier for them to keep track of all their bets and figure out if they have already won the game.

Another distinguishing factor between the two is that in American Roulette, the croupier - or the one in charge of the table - uses his own hands to rake in all the chips and bets. In the European version of the Roulette, croupiers use sticks to get all the chips after each round.

Online Roulette is played the same way as in the traditional live casinos. They also have the European and American versions, the distinguishing factors are also in place; and in some cases you actually see the croupier either using his hands to get the chips or a stick to get the same.

Now, if you're wondering which game to play, if you want a lower house advantage; you should definitely go with the European version. But if you have poor memory or get confused easily; you should probably stick with the American Roulette.

The best thing about these online casinos is that they understand that not everyone has the knack for using the internet and so some are quite apprehensive to trust anyone online, let alone play a betting game where they're sure they will lose at because they don't understand how it operates.

This is where the free game versions come in. In online Roulette for example, there are free games that you can practice on until you get the feel of it and understand how it works. Sometimes these games happen so quickly that you can get lost in translation.

So play your free Roulette until you actually start enjoying it. Then go for the big bucks if you must.
